Week Sixteen - w/c 12/12/11

Billiards
Simms Cross A take the spotlight this week after a 7-0 thumping of Widnes Cons B – Kev Marsh 130-92 started the winning streak and Kenny Boscoe 130-97 ended it in style.
WBC sneak clear at the top after their 6-1 home win over Widnes Cons A – Willie Barnwell 130-102 and Ian Lowe 130-85 with good wins.
USC continue their run of form after a 5-2 away win against Simms Cross B – Andrew Housley 130-93 and Clive Rimmer 130-87 were outshone by George Riccio’s superb 32 break.
Village beat Fords 5-2 – Solid frames from Mark King 130-79 and Adam Thompson 130-21 enough to ensure the victory.
WCC were 4-3 winners at home to Farnworth B – Dave Loseby 130-119 and John Dale 130-77.

Snooker
Division One
Overton MH remain in charge at the top of the league after yet another 9-0 whitewash, this time over Village Galacticos – excellent frames from Geoff Brassington 93-35 and John Hughes 105-11 including a 56 break in a totally one sided match.
Not to be outdone, second place Fords A had their own 9-0 against Stadium A – Star of the show Pat Horne 120-15 including breaks of 60 and 44 closely followed by Ste O’Hare’s 67-20 final black ball win.
Simms Cross A hammered St Josephs A 8-1 – Aiden Morris 72-30 and Mike Batty 62-16 sharing the spoils on the night.
St Bedes A chalked up a magnificent 7-2 win over Farnworth A – Aidy O’Connor 77-12 and Tommy Myler 87-33 in a strong team performance.
WCC A were 6-3 winners over Millbrow A – Andy Knight 74-45 and John Dale 54-37 in a hard fought match.
USC A beat Widnes Cons A 5-4 – Howard Jones shone 57-45 and Neil Whelan sparkled 64-51 (Woop Woooop !!).
HGSC B managed a 5-4 home win over Woolton Cons – thanks to final pairing of Gary Rowlands 53-37 and Duncan Watt 84-16.

Division Two
Millbrow B are looking most likely after beating WCC C 8-1 – A magnificent frame from Terry Bourke 120-17 included breaks of 38 and 30, a great frame from Danny Wooley 87-26 included a break of 30 and Wez Turton got beat by their best player (again).
Stadium B also won 8-1 against Fords B – Danny Naughton 90-30 including a 46 break and Ronnie Crewe 51-48.
Birchfield B notched up a 7-2 victory over Runcorn Con Artists – Ant Clarke had a 35 break in his 97-25 winning frame and John Jones 52-25.
St Josephs B won 6-3 away to Simms Cross B – Karl Szczotok 66-39 and Geoff carter 65-51 more than enough.
St Bedes B brushed aside Farnworth B 6-3 – Wayne Hewitt 59-27 and John Hallsworth 73-38 both in fine form.
USC B continue their winning ways after beating HRBL B 6-3 – Andy Cotterill 73-35 and Tommy ‘The Destroyer’ Laughton 74-20 (Yippee !).
HGSC A were also 6-3 winners against Runcorn Cons A – Andy Cunliffe 90-21 including a 31 break and Alan Dunn 78-14 easing them over the line.

Division Three
Widnes Cons B return to form as they thumped Holy family 8-1 – Final pairing of Bernie Edwards 73-45 and Leo Milne 51-22 making certain.
Farnworth Knights also won 8-1 against WBC – Derek Peach 74-26 and Karl Davenport 75-32.
Corporation beat Stadium C 7-2 – Rob Morris 83-30 and Brian Mercer 76-27 sharing the man of the match.
HRBL A shone in a superb show of class in the final two frames against Farnworth Donkeys – Billy Connolly 59-30 and Mike Loughran 94-22 pulling back a 99 deficit to take the match on the black.
WCC B were 5-4 winners over Village C – Stuart Bargh 41-38 and stalwart Geoff Soul 52-49 to ensure the handicap.
Prescot Reform B also won 5-4 against Prescot Reform A – Ste Evans 80-10 and Ian Furbank 61-48 with big victories.

 

Week Fifteen - w/c 05/12/11

Billiards Team Knockout
The quarter finals of this year’s Billiard Team Knockout saw Simms Cross A pound their way through after beating Widnes Cons A 620-485 – Kev Marsh 130-49 and Kenny Boscoe 130-85 making sure last on.
Farnworth B booked their place in the semi’s after brushing aside WCC 714-599 – Strong frames from John Pinder 130-103 and Tony Hill 130-106.
USC went through via the Village – Massive opening wins for Howard Jones 130-57 and Andrew Housley 130-29 proving too much in the end.
(The game between Fords and Simms Cross B was cancelled and will be played at a later date).

Division One
Buffalos on the Rampage !
RAOB whitewashed Simms Cross A 9-0 this week to hurl themselves further up the table – Ste Ratcliffe 77-48 and Frank Pennington 77-27 In a solid team performance.
WCC A had a 7-2 victory over Farnworth A – Andy Knight 91-20 and Billy Webster 82-14 the stars of the show.
Stadium A beat HGSC B 6-3 – big wins for Paul Goulden 64-31 and Anthony Leather 67-39.
Village Galacticos move out of the relegation zone after a 6-3 win against USC A – John Mercer 79-17 and a superb frame from Ste Rawlinson 96-20 including breaks of 33 and 31.
Millbrow A had a 5-4 win over Fords A – Norman Locke snr 49-27 taking all the plaudits.
Struggling Widnes Cons A were 5-4 winners at home to St Bedes A – Mark Smith 71-20 and Paul Summerfield 65-63 including a 36 break.

Division Two
Millbrow B lead the way after a 9-0 whitewash of Fords B – Wez Turton 50-12 (played their best player) whilst Danny Magee 73-33 weaved his magic.
Farnworth B had a great 8-1 victory away to WCC C – Paul Worth 75-22 and Hughie ‘Gwapple my Gwapenuts’ Farrell 48-24.
Runcorn Cons A were also 8-1 winners, this time over St Josephs B – Kyle Farrington 53-52 including a 35 break and sibling Robbie Farrington 50-43.
St Bedes B were 7-2 winners over struggling HRBL B – John Price 88-13 and Kev Johnson 66-39 in fine form.
Runcorn Con Artists beat Simms Cross B 6-3 – Paul O’Sullivan 85-46 and Dave Bratchell 59-25 among the winners.
USC B continue to shine after a 6-3 win against Village Wildebeests – John Hunt 68-53 and a hard fought frame from man of the match Tommy Laughton 49-26.

Division Three
Farnworth Knights inflicted a 9-0 whitewash on Widnes Cons B – Superb frames from Karl Davenport 82-15 and Martin Sheehy 68-30.
Corporation took down table toppers RWMC 7-2 – Tom Cafferty 64-41 and Brian Mercer 57-53 enabling the win.
WCC B beat Farnworth C 5-4 – Joe Parry 46-39 starring for the ‘Cricket Club’ (Tommy Galloway won 63-41 for the Donkeys).
Village C beat Prescot Reform A 5-4 - Paul O’Keefe 78-9 and Liam Riley 52-50 to steal the handicap.
Prescot Reform B were 5-4 – winners against Holy Family – Jim Furbank 62-33 and Ste Evans 91-26 getting them off to the best possible start.
HRBL A also 5-4 winners over Stadium C – Billy Connolly 50-41 and L. McCoy 75-15.
