Week Twenty Two - w/c 30/02/12

Billiards
This week saw USC move into joint second place in the league after a superb 7-0 whitewashing of Farnworth B – Excellent frames from Peter Whittle 130-96 and Richie Whittle 130-73 which included breaks of 50 and 39.
Widnes Cons A share the second spot after a great 6-1 win at home to Simms Cross A – Mark Smith 130-87 and Paul Summerfield 130-113 shone for the Con Club whilst Mick Anderson knocked in breaks of 42 and 39 for Simmies.
Farnworth A also had a 6-1 victory over WCC – Tony Bibby 130-96 and Bob Williams 130-85 both in fine form.
Widnes Cons B beat Simms Cross B 5-2 – Opening frames from Tommy ‘The Slayer’ Galloway 130-127 and Leo Milne 130-77 getting them off to a flyer.
WBC stay top after beating Village 5-2 – Matty Jackson 130-87 including a 47 break, Callum Malloy 130-49 and Willie Barnwell 130-47 proving too good for the Village.

Snooker
Division One
Village A were 9-0 winners over WCC A – Richie Whittle 75-22 and Ste Millington 100-8 in the opening two frames.
Fords A remain in contention after thumping Widnes Cons A 8-1 – Phil Horne 76-40 including a 44 break and Pat Horne 82-31 the stars of the show.
RAOB were 7-2 winners over St Bedes A – A strong opening frame from Frank Pennington 86-19 and an equally good closing frame from Ray Dutton 67-29 seeing them to victory (Ste O’Connor had a 50 break in his winning frame for the Bedes).
USC A showed their metal as they beat HGSC B 7-2 – Danny Plumpton 85-24 including breaks of 39 and 31 along with Howard Jones 77-24 enough to cement the win.
Simms Cross A were 7-2 winners over Millbrow A – Lee Thomas 83-30 and Aiden Morris 78-27 sharing the spoils.
Stadium A managed a 5-4 victory at home to Woolton Cons – Brian Hough 59-41 and Paul Goulding 93-37.
Overton stay well clear at the top after a 5-4 victory away to St Josephs A – Geoff Brassington 85-30 and Steve Spencer 78-42 among their winners.

Division Two
St Josephs B had a superb 8-1 win over USC B – Ste Carter 97-32 and Eddie Szczotok 60-37 guiding them to victory.
St Bedes B were 7-2 winners over HGSC A – John Price 65-48 and Wayne Hewitt 54-26 stealing the show.
League leaders Millbrow B beat Birchfield B 7-2 – Final Pairing of Chris Chapman 75-36 and Danny Magee 69-26 making sure of the win (neither of them played Birchfield’s best player).
Village Wildebeests were also 7-2 winners over WCC C – Adam Thompson 52-38 and Shaun Brolley 73-25.
Simms Cross B were 6-3 winners at home to Stadium B – Paul Bradburne 63-39 and Steve Rowe 47-27.
Runcorn Cons A took a 6-3 home win from Farnworth B – Robbie Farrington 64-21 and Kev Bolton 85-32 the stand out performers.

Division Three
Prescot Reform B continue their good season with a 7-2 win over Stadium C – Ste Evans 58-35 and Ian Furbank 56-19 in good form.
Birchfield A beat WBC 7-2 – Eddie Dickson 58-37 and Ian Sharples 49-34 in a game which saw Degsy ‘The Duvet’ Taylor play with his coat on ! and Paul ‘Zola Bud’ Smith played with his shoes on for a change.
RWMC stay on top after beating Widnes Cons A 7-2 – Andy Relph 90-28 and Dave Ellison 65-46 (Bernie Edwards had a 39 break for the Con Club).
Farnworth Knights had a 7-2 win of their own against Village C – Derek Peach 41-19 and Martin Sheehy 46-42 making names for themselves.
Farnworth C were 6-3 winners away to Holy Family – Tommy Galloway 58-27 and Clive Rimmer 64-19 both hitting form (Mark Freeman had a 31 break in his 76-15 frame for the Holy family).
Corporation stay in contention after a 6-3 home win over Prescot Reform A – Tony Rawlinson 77-18 and Bri Mercer 50-44.
