Week Fourteen - w/c 28/11/11
Billiards
This week’s games saw Simms Cross A thump Village 6-1 – Shaun Cosgrove 130-89 and Kev Mash with opening wins (Ste Rawlinson had a 49 break for the Villagers).
Fords also had a 6-1 win over WCC – Peter Corns 130-53 and a superb frame from Chris Achilles 130-72 which included a 52 break.
USC were 5-2 winners over Widnes Cons B – Clive Rimmer 130-114 and Andrew Housley 130-117 including an excellent 63 break.
Simms Cross B beat Widnes Cons A 5-2 to close the gap at the top - Ged O’Connor 130-104 and Aiden Morris 130-67 both in fine form.
In the Farnworth ‘Derby Match’ Farnworth B came out victorious 4-3 – fantastic opening frames from Tony Hill 130-52 and Hughie ‘The Pocket Rocket’ Farrell 130-55 doing all the damage.

Division One
Overton MH continue to destroy all in their path after yet another 9-0 whitewash, this time against Simms Cross A – John Hughes 102-29 including a massive 82 break and Geoff Brassington 105-12 rounding off a great team performance.
Not to be outdone, Fords A whitewashed Farnworth A 9-0 – Blowing their own trumpets were Phil Horne 88-24 and Pat Horne 81-29.
St Josephs A continued their great season with an 8-1 win over Stadium A – Brian Timmis 85-24 and Gary Staniford 50-30.
Widnes Cons Untouchables beat Village Galacticos 6-3 – Tony Cook 74-29 and Paul Anderson 80-33 including a 55 break enough to cement the win.
HGSC B also won 6-3 against Millbrow A – Duncan Watt 62-25 and Paul Fenlon 63-50 in a hard fought match.
RAOB were 6-3 winners at home to Woolton Cons – Great wins from Father/Son combo Ste Ratcliffe 61-39 and John Ratcliffe 59-42.
WCC A were 5-4 victors away to St Bedes A – Billy Webster 67-43 and John Dale 58-32 taking the plaudits this week.
Division Two
Farnworth B handed out an 8-1 demolition of HRBL B this week – Hughie Farrell 66-47, Paul Worth 81-41 and Paul Lawrenson 77-26.
WCC C were 7-2 winners at home to Fords B – Paul Coughlin 57-26 and an inspired 101-26 frame win from Tony McDonnell making certain of the points.
Stadium B were also 7-2 winners over St Josephs B – Matty Clarke 71-22 and John Barry 76-31 with strong wins.
In the Runcorn Cons ‘Derby’ Runcorn Con Artists beat Runcorn Cons A 6-3 – Jay Cumpper 59-48 and Paul O’Sullivan 90-20.
St Bedes B had a 6-3 win over Village Wildebeests – Kev Johnson 70-36 and Wayne Hewitt 56-45 getting them off to a flyer.
USC B beat league leaders Birchfield B 5-4 – Andy Cotterill 63-32 and John Hunt 67-44 in fine form for the ‘Services’.
Division Three
Struggling Prescot Reform A put in a stellar performance by whitewashing Holy Family 9-0 – Carl Minshall 89-28 and Colin McCarthy 74-44 sharing the spoils.
Village C had a superb 8-1 victory over Farnworth Donkeys – Paul O’Keefe 67-24, Shaun Parry 63-29 and Lee Case 72-27 were all on fire for the Village.
Birchfield A were 6-3 winners away to Corporation – ‘Fast’ Eddie Dickson 56-34 and Cliff ‘Dog with two’ Dicks 65-24 (Rob Morris had a 38 break for the Corpy).
RWMC were also 6-3 winners away to HRBL A – Lee Gascoigne 67-28 and Dave Ellison 59-33 with strong frames.
WCC B beat Stadium C 6-3 – Man of the match Geoff Soul 71-42 being the difference on the night.
Prescot Reform B were 6-3 winners away to Farnworth Knights – Jim Furbank 58-33 and Ian Furbank 55-35 keeping it in the family.

Village get their season off to a flyer !!
This week saw the Village take their first win of the season after a 6-1 thumping of Widnes Cons B – Superb frames from Mark King 130-108 which included breaks of 47,44 and 34 and Ste ‘Chuck Norris’ Rawlinson 130-127 including a break of 40.
Fords A also had a 6-1 victory over Farnworth A – Peter Corns 130-76 and Nigel White 130-87 in stunning form as ever.
WCC were 5-2 winners against Simms Cross A – Rob Taylor 130-72 and John Dale 130-81 taking the starring roles.
WBC moved to within a point of the leaders after their 5-2 win away to Farnworth B – Big frames from John Tighe 130-98 and Willie Barnwell 130-90.
USC had a great 5-2 home win over table topping Widnes Cons A – Danny Magee 130-111 and a match winning performance from Peter Whittle 130-91 (Richie Whittle had a 50 break for the Services).

Fords A take all the praise this week after whitewashing WCC A 9-0 – Chris Whitfield 94-24, Jimmy Jenkins 79-38 and an excellent 100-19 frame from Pat Horne sealing the victory.
Millbrow A were 8-1 winners at home to St Josephs A – Man of the match Rico Locke 80-37 and Ashley Birch 56-43 with good wins.
Woolton Cons caused the biggest upset of the week after beating runaway leaders Overton 6-3 – Jason Sharp 54-40 and Peter Kays 72-55 with big frames.
USC A also won 6-3 away to Simms Cross A – Paul Taylor 71-35 and Neil Whelan 77-42 shone for the Services.
HGSC B beat Farnworth A 6-3 – Gaz Rowlands 55-45 and Barry Connor 53-38 in fine form.
RAOB were 5-4 winners away to Stobart Stadium A – John Ratcliffe 73-44 and Frank Pennington 58-23 sharing the spoils.
St Bedes narrowly beat Village Galacticos 5-4 thanks to a respotted black win for John Hartshorn 48-48 and an unbelievable 55-43 winning frame from Phil ‘The Power’ Henderson to silent all you doubters (Richie Whittle had a 62 break for the Village in his 113-4 frame).

HGSC A smashed WCC C 9-0 in a totally one sided affair – Alan Dunn 63-27 and Andy Ryan 80-20 but man of the match goes to the effervescent George Riccio who at 88 years of age stepped in to ensure the whitewash.
Birchfield B won 8-1 away to St Bedes B – Paul Hilton 64-24 and Ant Clarke 62-48 the stand out performers.
Farnworth B had their own 8-1 victory over Fords B – Norman Beesley 66-24 and John Tollitt 55-38 hitting form.
Simms Cross B beat USC B 7-2 – Jeff Evans 95-49 and Brian Adamson 58-37 among the winners.
Stobart Stadium B had a 6-3 win over Runcorn Con Artists – Matty Clarke 61-50 and a superb 105-6 frame from Danny Naughton enough to seal the win.
Millbrow B also won 6-3 over St Josephs B – Terry Bourke 52-44 and man of the match Scott Price 116-1 taking no prisoners.
Village Wildebeests beat HRBL B 6-3 – Lol Ogburn 98-28 and Jay Bright 72-55 doing the damage.

Corporation thumped WBC 8-1 this week – Mark Allen 72-22 and Rob Morris 107-18 which included a 31 break.
Farnworth C were 6-3 winners at home to Prescot Reform A – Jamie King 63-48 and Brian ‘The Hitman’ Cafferty 69-24 taking big scalps.
WCC B also won 6-3 against RWMC – Geoff Soul 71-23 and Brian McCurdy 59-45 in a good team performance.
Village C beat Stobart Stadium C 5-4 – Shaun Parry 66-43 and Lee case 61-38 with good wins.
HRBL A were 5-4 winners away to Birchfield A – Billy Connolly 79-45 and Peter Quinn 82-44.

This week saw Simms Cross B close the gap at the top of the league after a superb 6-1 victory over Farnworth B – Final pairing of Jim Furbank 130-112 and Dave Forshaw 130-85 enough to take all the plaudits.
Farnworth A on the other hand reversed that score line as they beat Simms Cross A 6-1 – Bob Williams 130-90 and Paul Cleary 130-117.
WCC were also 6-1 winners at home to Widnes Cons B – Rob Taylor 130-86 and Graham Knight 130-90 with important winning frames.
United Services Club were 5-2 winners over Village – Excellent frames from Peter Whittle 130-22 and Clive Rimmer 130-21 enabling the victory.
Fords beat a strong WBC team 5-2 – Chris Achilles 130-74 and Peter Corns 130-90 both in top form.

The cup saw Widnes Bowling Club knock out Farnworth A by a solitary point 360-359 in a highly contested match – James Brown taking all the credit with his 37-34 frame win.
Birchfield A go through to the next round after beating Village C 389-280 – Geoff Cookson shone in his 71-28 frame closely contended by Dave Illidge 52-38.
Millbrow A scraped past Fords B 364-346 – Ashley Birch 79-40 and Norman Locke (snr) 78-71 in the opening two frames.
Village Wildebeests beat Millbrow B 419-351 – Stars of the show Adam Thompson 100-42 and Alex Millington 67-48 taking out strong opposition.
USC A went through after beating Village Galacticos 514-430 – Dale Roberts 68-40 and Howard Jones 64-42 with convincing wins last on.
Simms Cross A put paid to HGSC B’s chances after a 351-318 victory – Aiden Morris 101-22 and Lee Thomas 62-38.
Runcorn Cons A beat Holy Family 433-349 – Top wins for Ian Lowe 102-32 including a 48 break and Rob Farrington 80-16 including a 51 break (Kyle Farrington had 5 breaks –all under 10).
Overton MH beat HRBL B 470-442 – Fantastic winning frames from John Hughes 96-14, Geoff Brassington 76-24 and Chris Achilles 111-10 in a totally one sided match.
Simms Cross B knocked out Farnworth Knights 375-342 – Dave Quirk 83-30 and Jason Evans 89-27 proving too much for Farnworth.
Stobart Stadium B ended Widnes Cons A’s chances after a 491-353 win – Superstars Danny Naughton 95-30 and Matty Clarke 57-47 taking the opening frames.
Widnes Cons B beat HGSC A 383-268 – Bernie ‘Dancing Machine’ Edwards 85-30 and Tony Grant 55-32 amongst their winners.
Cup specialists Woolton Cons move into next round after seeing off WCC B 450-397 – Final duo of Ian Chisnall 74-15 and Jason Sharp 71-8 putting it beyond any doubt.
HRBL A left it till the last frame to scrape past Fords A 473-410 – Mike Loughran 73-29 taking the frame and the match (Pat Horne knocked a great 59 break in the opening frame)

WBC were 5-2 winners away to Simms Cross A – Colin Attwood 130-79 and Willie Barnwell 130-71 with good frame wins.

WCC C were 6-3 winners away to Runcorn Con Artists – Leon Hosking 84-12 and Peter Foster 66-29 causing all the trouble.
St Bedes B earned a 6-3 of their own against Runcorn Cons A – John Price taking the honours in his 104-21 frame ably assisted by Kev Johnson 81-24 (Kyle Farrington had breaks of 20,21 and 37 in his 107-22 frame).

WCC B had a great 7-2 win over WBC – Geoff Soul 77-31 and Joe Parry 49-33 amongst their winners.
Prescot Reform B took care of Corporation 6-3 – Ste Evans 76-26 and Les Clare 66-36 at either end of the match.
HRBL A beat Widnes Cons B 6-3 – Brian Connolly 78-37 and Peter Quinn 75-42 rounding it off last on.
Stadium C managed a 5-4 win at home to Prescot Reform A – John Murphy 74-41 and Dave Gerrard 49-48 earning the team a good win.
