Week Nine - w/c 24/10/11
Billiards
Simms Cross B made some headway in the league table after a great 6-1 win over Widnes Cons B – Jim Furbank 130-102 and a final frame of 130-103 to Ged Connor.
Simms Cross A equalled that win with their own 6-1 against table toppers Widnes Cons A – Stu Cosgrove 130-61 and Eddie McNicholas 130-98 ensuring the victory.
Widnes Bowling Club also won 6-1 against the Village – Matty Jackson 130-36 and Willie Barnwell 130-52 in a strong solid performance.
United Services Club had a great 5-2 away win at Farnworth B – Superstar Peter Whittle shone in his 130-117 frame which included a 35 break complimented by Danny Magee 130-68.

Division One
Stobart Stadium A thumped last year’s champions Widnes Cons A 7-2 this week – Paul Rigby 67-20 and Brian Hough 64-41 with big wins.
WCC A beat RAOB 6-3 – Billy Webster 77-20 and Andy Knight 63-44 the pick of the bunch.
USC A also 6-3 winners, this time against Millbrow A – Opener Danny Plumpton 67-37 and Dale Roberts 75-11 both on fire for the Services.
HGSC B beat St Bedes A 5-4 – Gary Rowlands 63-50 and Duncan Watt 67-10 taking the spoils.
Woolton Cons beat a strong Village Galacticos side 5-4 – Dave Rogers 84-30 including a 42 break and Andy Molyneux 79-53.
St Josephs A continue to shine as they beat Fords A 5-4 – Brian Timmis 71-26 and Billy Smith 55-42 (Pat Horne stole the man of the match after his 60 break for Fords).
Farnworth A were 5-4 winners against runaway leaders Overton MH – Mainly thanks to Chris Smart 100-29 and John Chamberlain 58-30.
Division Two
USC B earned a great 7-2 victory over leaders Millbrow B – Andy Cotterill setting the tone early on with Alan Fox continuing in his 65-21 win.
St Bedes B also won 7-2 away to Stobart Stadium B – Brian Woodrow 74-20 and John Price 75-30 making it all seem easy.
Fords B notched up a 7-2 win of their own against Runcorn Con Artists – Tony Riccio 54-33 and Mick Carew 57-46 sharing the spoils.
Farnworth B had a good 6-3 win over Birchfield B – ‘The Legend that is’ Hughie Farrell 73-31 and Paul Worth 70-44 shining for the Peelhouse Lane side.
Simms Cross B beat Village b 5-4 – Barry Hurley 93-29 and Joe Evans 73-29.
St Josephs B also won 5-4 away to HGSC A – Lee Goulden 73-51 including a 30 break and Mike Whittaker 82-22.
Division Three
HRBL A dealt a superb 9-0 whitewash over Prescot Reform B – Alan Hodgkinson 79-29 and Billy Connolly 95-6 hitting some form.
Widnes Cons B remain top after a 9-0 whitewash at WCC B – Opening duo Tony Grant 75-25 and Bernie Edwards 79-14 put paid to any chance for the Cricket Club.
Village C had a great 8-1 win at home to WBC – Lee Case 84-19 including a 21 break and Neil Fitzsimon 65-15 (Dave O’Keefe also had a 21 break in his 38-28 frame).
Farnworth C were 7-2 winners over a strong Birchfield A side – Tommy Carr 59-24 and man of the match Mick McKay 72-24.
RWMC keep their good run going after beating Stobart Stadium C 7-2 – Lee Gascoigne 92-24 including a 25 break and Dave Morton 67-29 including a 22 break.
Corporation were 7-2 winners at home to Holy Family – Brian Mercer stole the show with his 112-14 winning frame.
Week Eight - w/c 17/10/11
Billiards Team Knockout
In the preliminary round of this year’s Billiards Team Knockout, Fords showed no mercy to WBC as they beat them 528-478 – Peter Corns 130-54 and Chris Achilles 130-34 both in superb form.
Simms Cross A put paid to Widnes Cons B’s hopes as they beat them 650-518 – Eddie McNicholas 130-32 and Kenny Boscoe 130-41 with emphatic wins.
In a much closer match USC squeezed past Farnworth A 538-525 – Andy Housley 130-33 including a fantastic seasons best break of 82 and Richie Whittle 130-24 in unforgiving form.

Division One
Bookies odds on favourites Overton MH cruised to another 9-0 whitewash against WCC A – Chris Achilles 92-25 and John Hughes 63-19 getting them off to a flyer.
Simms Cross A thumped struggling St Bedes A 8-1 – Kev Marsh 76-35 and Aiden Morris 77-40 both on song.
Stobart Stadium A had a great 6-3 win over Village Galacticos – Eddie Corby 52-32 and Kev Tiernan 76-61 earning the victory.
St Josephs A continue to impress after another 6-3 away win – Dave Timmis 96-17 and Brian Timmis 69-42 including a 35 break.
USC A finally hit some form as they beat Farnworth A 6-3 – Paul Taylor 94-22 and Dale Roberts 60-18 the stars on the night.
Widnes Cons A beat Millbrow A 5-4 – John Rowan 67-42 and a superb frame from Mark Smith 97-9 including a break of 53.
Fords A could only manage a 5-4 win over RAOB – Pat Horne 99-32 including a 52 break, Jimmy Jenkins 78-40 with a 58 break and Chris Whitfield 96-7 including a 52 break.
Division Two
Millbrow B hold on to top spot after an 8-1 mauling of St Bedes B – Scott Price 90-25 and Danny Magee 83-45 showing class.
Runcorn Cons A also won 8-1 against Village Wildebeests – Dave McNamara 72-16 and Ian Lowe 71-11 earning a much needed win.
St Josephs B were another 8-1 winning team this week against Farnworth B – ‘Scrabble Brothers’ Karl Szczotok 58-19 and Eddie Szczotok 73-38 causing the conundrum.
Birchfield B beat Simms Cross B 7-2 – Andy Findlater 67-34 and Roy Randles 56-28 (Jeff Evans had a 40 break for Simms Cross).
USC B continue their winning form after beating WCC C 6-3 – John Twist 68-32 and Alan Fox 52-35 continued his unbeaten run.
HGSC A were 6-3 winners over Runcorn Con Artists – Andy Cunliffe 67-32 and Alan Dunn 69-36 in a tightly contested match.
Division Three
Prescot Reform B move further up the table after their 8-1 win at home to WCC B – Peter Williams 49-25 and Keith Wilson 54-51 after being 30 behind.
RWMC mount their challenge after beating Prescot Reform A 8-1 – Lee Gascoigne 79-39 including a 25 clearance and Ste Mullane 43-32.
Farnworth C were 7-2 winners away to WBC – Jamie King 63-31 including a 25 clearance and Brian Cafferty 46-41.
Village C earned themselves a 6-3 victory away to Widnes Cons B – Lee Case 58-30 and a superb frame from Liam Riley 104-14 including breaks of 22 and 21.
Birchfield A got back on track by beating Stobart Stadium C 6-3 – Chuckle brothers Dave ‘to you’ Illidge 56-26 and Geoff ‘to me’ Illidge 80-26 providing the entertainment.
Farnworth Knights were 6-3 winners at home to Corporation – ‘Mike and Bernie Winters lookalikes’ John Sheehy 46-38 and Martin Sheehy 48-19.

USC took control in their 6-1 home win to Farnworth A this week – Danny Magee 130-94 and Richie Whittle 130-81 both on form for the Services.
League leaders Widnes Cons A beat Widnes Cons B 5-2 – Tommy Worral 130-113 and Peter Kenny 130-82 in a close derby match.
WBC stay second in the table after beating WCC A 5-2 – Strong wins from Matty 'Propofol' Jackson 130-47 and John 'School' Tighe 130-95 making the difference.
Farnworth B also won 5-2 at home to Fords – Excellent winning frames from John 'Dying for the' Tollitt 130-34, John 'Lucy' Pinder 130-59 and Tony 'Harry' Hill 130-76.

Widnes Cons A had an impressive 8-1 victory over Farnworth A – Tony Cook 99-25 including a 44 break, Andy Grice 92-26 and John Rowan 68-38 including a 40 break.
Simms Cross A also won 8-1 this week against high flying Woolton Cons – Aiden Morris 66-48 and Mark Bingham 75-23 with strong wins.
Runaway leaders Overton continue to impress after another 7-2 win, this time over Fords A – John 'Howard' Hughes 99-22 and Eddie 'Parking' Lott 98-48 including a 54 break (Jimmy Jenkins had a 51 break of his own)
St Josephs A were 6-3 winners away to St Bedes after the handicap going down to the final black ball – After a superb break off shot from Phil 'Eagle Eye' Henderson (which missed ALL 15 reds) Gary Staniford 64-33 and Brian Timmis 78-56 stole the points in the closing frames.
Village Galacticos were 6-3 winners over Millbrow A – Richie Whittle 97-43 including a 45 break and Callum ‘Judas’ Malloy 82-32 both with good frames.
HGSC B beat RAOB 6-3 – Baz 'You Rang' Connor 53-41 and Dave Jones ! 65-45 including a 31 break ?

Millbrow B stay top of the division after an 8-1 win at home to HRBL B – Openers Danny Wooley 88-33 and Terry Bourke 65-47 setting the standards.
Simms Cross B won 7-2 away to Farnworth B – Dave Evans 81-8 and Barry Hurley 51-38.
St Josephs B beat Runcorn Con Artists 6-3 – Lee Goulden 57-44 and a superb 105-25 frame from Ste Carter earning him the man of the match.
WCC C won 6-3 against St Bedes B – Leon Hosking 80-43 including a 30 break and Simon Haste 42-26.
USC B were 6-3 victors away to Fords B – Taking it down to the last two frames were Stars of the night Tommy Laughton 68-33 and Paul Antrobus 71-29.
Birchfield B beat Runcorn Cons A 5-4 – Anonymous Clarke 98-17 and Possibly Matthews 62-26.
Division Three
RWMC had a superb 9-0 whitewash over Birchfield A (and rang the result in 4 times just in case) which took them into second spot this week – Lee Gascoigne 59-31 including a 28 break and Dave Ellison 57-22 including a 20 break.
Farnworth Knights beat HRBL A 6-3 – Stu Swift 73-54 and Derek Peach 36-24 (one for the purists).
Prescot Reform B were also 6-3 winners against Village C – Ste Evans 71-48 and Jim Furbank 55-32 (Neil Fitzsimon had a good 31 break in his frame for the Villagers).
WCC B beat Holy Family 6-3 – Dave Robinson 69-25 and Geoff Soul 56-55 in a nail biting finish to the match.
WBC won 6-3 away to Stobart Stadium C – Ken Yeomans 68-15 and Darren Fox 56-34.
Farnworth C were 5-4 winners over runaway leaders Widnes Cons B – Tommy 'Gun' Carr 65-47 and Clive Rimmer 78-51 taking the plaudits.

This week saw Simms Cross B take an emphatic 6-1 win over WCC – Dave Evans 130-99 and Paul Bradburne 130-75 the stars of the show.
WBC were 5-2 winners away to Farnworth A – Superb frames from Matty Jackson 130-10 and John Tighe 130-72 earning the victory.
Farnworth B were also 5-2 winners away to Simms Cross A – Openers Tony Hill 130-70 and Hughie ‘The Legend’ Farrell 130-108 getting them off to the best possible start.
Widnes Cons A keep the momentum going as they beat Village 4-3 – Mark Smith 130-58 and Peter Kenny 130-65 enough to secure the victory.
Fords A continue their good form as they beat USC 4-3 – Nigel White 130-79 and Tommy Barton 130-91 their winning players.

Farnworth Knights had a great 375-346 win over WCC C in the prelims of this year’s cup – Mainly thanks to Karl Davenport 71-39 coupled with a great opening frame from Ste Brennan.
Simms Cross B knocked out Runcorn Con Artists 338-284 – Paul Bradburne 58-32 and Barry Hurley 66-53 with strong frames.
Fords A beat a depleted St Bedes A 404-363 – Pat Horne 89-28 including a 59 break and an unbeatable frame of 116-27 including a break of 66 from star man Jimmy Jenkins.
Millbrow A put paid to USC B’s chances after beating them 377-306 – Norman Locke 83-51 and Rico Locke 80-37 making the difference.
HRBL A beat St Josephs B 338-291 – Billy Connolly 53-44 and Chris Heffey 69-45 taking the man of the match.
In the Farnworth Club ‘Derby’ Farnworth A took out Farnworth C 380-314 – Superb frames from Andy Stacey 91-49 and Chris Smart 86-9 putting the donkeys in their place.
Woolton Cons were big winners over Farnworth B 408-345 – Andy Molyneux 90-7 including a 33 break and star performer Dennis Simcock 84-29 including a break of 49.HGSC A thumped Stobart Stadium A 382-242 – Alan Dunn 109-15 and Stu Ireland 59-49 rounding them off.
WBC won 395-300 against Birchfield B – Darren Fox 65-40 and Ste Leadbetter 76-34 enough to see them through.
Corporation beat Prescot Reform A 412-317 great frames form Brian Mercer 58-40 and Mike Harrison 59-35 seeing them through to the next round.
