WBC retain their command at the top of the table after cruising home 5-2 away to Widnes Cons A – Matty Jackson 100-56 and Willie Barnwell 100-50 the stars ( Jimmy ‘The Whirlwind’ Gallagher couldn’t inspire his team despite a 44 break which just missed out on the league best)
Leon Hosking notched up a 51 break for WCC in a 5-2 win at home to Widnes Cons B – His 100-19 frame alongside Rob Taylor’s 100-54 frame ensured a lightning start.
Fords continue to challenge after a 5-2 win of their own – John Childes 100-59 and Nigel White 100-36 impressing.
Simms Cross B edged out USC A 4-3 – Peter Knight was the star of the show coming home 100-48 including a 36 break (Peter ‘Let me see those Fingers’ Whittle had a 38 break in vain for the ‘Services’)

Third Division
League newboys Runcorn Cons C earned their first win routing a woeful Farnworth D ‘Knights’ 7-2 – Dean Bentley 73-25 including a 24 break and Jay Cumper 67-47 finally getting their season started.
The Prescot ‘Derby’ saw Reform A beat their B team 5-4 – Carl Minshall 74-25 with a 25 break and Ste Barlow 73-16 excelling (Reform B captain chipped in with a 23 break in vain)
WBC ran out 7-2 winners against the ‘Godfathers’ Corporation B – Carl ‘The Rhino’ Davenport 72-33 and Adam Pointon 74-20.
‘Phonejackers’ Birchfield A couldn’t work out what score they won – An impressive performance saw them beat Widnes Cons B 6-3 – Massive wins for Geoff Illidge 80-16, Ian ‘Tit’ Sharples 83-17 and John O’Neil 83-19.
WCC B edged out big hitting RWMC 5-4 – Usual suspects Dave Coram 82-38 and Stuart Bargh 65-25.
Stobart Stadium C resigned Village C to more misery after a 6-3 win – Kyle O’Neil 66-49 with a vital frame win but the highlight of the match had to be snooker virgin Tex ‘Dynamite’ Moran 46-33 finally popping his cherry.
They’re all still chasing Farnworth C however as they ran out 8-1 Victors over Stadium D – Skipper Paul Williams 60-22 and ‘Slapper’ Jamie King 93-40 leading the way.
Second Division
WCC C won the tightest match of the week at home to USC 5-4 –Captain Peter Foster potted a re-spot black for the aggregate, starman though was once again Leon Hosking as he thumped his opponent 116-5 including breaks of 36,30 and an unfinished 27.
Widnes Cons C are still flying high after an impressive 7-2 victory – Peter Boardman 66-38 and ‘The Flippin’ Philster’ Phil Henderson 69-35 magnificent.
HGSC A had the most resounding win of the week as they annihilated Widnes Rec 8-1 – Alan Dunn 108-34 and Ste Williams 70-15 doing the damage.
Birchfield B could only manage a 5-4 win but were indebted to Wayne Hewitt 76-42 and John Price 76-41.
Birchfield C also impressed as they ran out 7-2 – Wayne Gleavey 71-28 and Paul Hilton 82-20 starring (Alan Clarke had a 32 break for Birchfield and Danny Naughton a 34 for Stadium)
Corporation A hammered St Basils 7-2 – Thanks to Andy Freeman 85-31 and Kenny Cunningham 81-15.
Simms Cross B also 7-2 winners – Ste Rowe 60-38, Barry Wainwright 68-36 and ‘Enigma’ Aiden Morris 64-40.
Millbrow B still sitting proud after a tough 5-4 win over Farnworth B – Scott Price 57-26 and Danny Magee 77-28 ensuring they stay in top spot.
First Division
Farnworth A compounded Village A woes by coming home 6-3 winners – Anchormen Andy Stacey 70-40 and Chris Smart ‘arse’ 71-66 ensured yet another cue was snapped ! (Andy Molyneux put in another electrifying display for Village in his 103-19 frame including breaks of 64 and 30)
First division newboys Fords B overcame Widnes Cons A 5-4 – Ken ‘Giant Killer’ Metcalfe 52-30 and Jimmy Dunn 46-44 made sure of the upset whilst Andy Housley had a 78 break in vain for the dirty Tory Boys.
St Bedes remain in control after a top of the table 8-1 thumping of Runcorn Cons A – League ‘bad boy’ John Mercer 103 -30 and John Hartshorn 79-33.
Fords A remain hot on their heels after their 7-2 win – Openers Ste O’Hare 109-10 and Pat Horne 90-27.
Overton M.H continue to climb the table after a 7-2 – Opener Chris Achilles 85-40 and anchormen Ian White 61-40 and Geoff Brassington 111-16.
The Irish Club continue to shine as they won 5-4 again – Kev Jenkins 93-8 and Mike Chester 90-26 were the highlights.
Week Eight
Billiards Team Knockout
This week saw two matches in the prelims of the team knockout:
Firstly, Fords went away to Farnworth B and came back with a 600 - 425 victory – Geoff Brassington 100-61 and Chris Achilles 100-69 the usual suspects.
In the other match WCC put out USC A by the narrowest of margins 555 - 544 - Dave Loseby 100- 57 sealed it last on (Andrew Housley had breaks of 40 and 37 unfinished in vain for the ‘Services’)

Division One
A rejuvenated HGSC B thumped Fords B 8-1 in a good all round team performance – Opener Barry Connor 67-45 including a 26 break, ‘Mouthy’ Terry Cartwright 60-36 including a 30 break and Ste O’Connor 74-35 including a 27 break.
Simms Cross A beat Stobart Stadium A 7-2 – Mark Bingham 84-27 and Mick Anderson 78-39 amongst the big winners.
Widnes Cons A turned over defending champions St Josephs A 6-3 – Andrew Housley 91-27, Tony Cook 70-38 including a 27 break and starman Mark Smith 82-25 including a 42 break and an 18 clearance.
Irish Club recorded another 5-4 win, this time against Farnworth A – Jimmy Murray 108-21 and Kev Jenkins 81-37 winning their games but losing their * first names.
WCC A beat Overton MH 5-4 – Rob Taylor 82-22 and Andy Knight 62-37 the pick of the bunch.
RAOB had a 5-4 away win at Runcorn Cons B – Shaun Cosgrove 64-31 and a superb display from Man of the match Frank Pennington 90-47 including a 30 break.
Fords A also 5-4 winners this time to Runcorn Cons A – Ste O’Hare 73-49, Jimmy Jenkins 67-35 and a marvellous 115-35 frame from Pat Horne too much for the Cons.
St Bedes went joint top after a 5-4 home win to Village A – John Hartshorn 75-47 and John Mercer 71-49 keeping the challenge alive (Andy Molyneux had a 54 break in vain for the Galacticos.)
Division Two
Simms Cross B thumped Corporation A 8-1 big wins came for – Paul Bradburne 77-22, Ste Rowe 75-30 and Dave Quirk 49-35 cleaned up at the end.
HGSC A had a great 7-2 victory over St Josephs B – Andy Cunliffe 83-23 including a 31 break and Les Blackmore 83-30 the stars of the show.
Widnes Rec also 7-2 winners – Tommy Laughton 45-31 and Paul Antrobus 62-47 made the difference last on in a close match.
St Basils A won 7-2 away at Stadium B – Opener Denis Simcock 86-11 and last on M.Cooper 88-10 far too strong on the night.
USC beat Widnes Cons C 7-2 – opening duo Paul Tudor 74-28 and Paul Taylor 74-38 got them of to a winning start.
Village B beat Farnworth B 7-2 – Lol Ogburn opened with a 64-40 winning frame leaving Adam Thompson to close the match with a 92-44 frame which included a magical 30 break.
Millbrow B head the table after another 6-3 win – Danny Magee 56-27 and Terry Bourke 57-38 taking all the plaudits.
WCC C took a 5-4 away win from Birchfield B – Usual suspects Leon Hosking 102-11 including a 45 break and Peter Foster 74-36 doing the damage.
Division Three
WCC B continue to challenge the top teams as they hammered Runcorn Cons C 8-1 away from home – Closing pair Alan Mercer 86-28 and Geoff Soul 57-49 put the match beyond any doubt (Dave Bentley had a 32 break in vain for Runcorn Cons)
Prescot Reform A beat RWMC 7-2 – Ged Jones 94-12 and Dave Nulty 64-45 keep them in the running.
Corporation B had a superb 7-2 victory over Village C – Rob Woods 70-46 and Tom Cafferty 69-26 the big winners. (The Old Man never played this week)
WBC notched up their second win this season by beating Oddfellows 7-2 – Mike Hughes 72-38 and Karl ‘Ave It’ Davenport 51-31 got lucky!
Farnworth D started their title challenge this week after beating Stadium C 6-3 – Skipper John Sheehy 45-40 and an inspired 63-20 frame from Derek ‘follow the yellow brick road’ Baker enough to take the points.
Prescot Reform B took a 5-4 win over Widnes Cons B – Jim Furbanks 45-31 including a 22 break and Kev Wilson 60-31 doing the damage.

This weeks Billiards saw top club WBC go down 5-2 away to WCC A – Jack Webb 100-71 and Dave Loseby 100-67 led the way.
Widnes Cons B also won 5-2 – Leo Milne 100-95 in a series of close encounters.
Widnes Cons A equalled that scoreline winning 5-2 away at Simms Cross A – Ged Connor 100-69 and John Tighe 100-37 making the difference.
USC A beat Farnworth A 4-3 – Skipper Howard Jones 100-62 and Billiards debutant Clive Rimmer 100-60 and still undefeated !
Snooker Division One
St Bedes regain momentum after an 8-1 trouncing of Farnworth A – Danny Plumpton 76-36 and Brian Kennedy 73-20 including a 32 break with big scalps last on. (John Hallsworth had a 34 break in his 55-40 winning frame)
St Josephs A also won 8-1 – Neil Roberts 70-18 and Captain Gary Stanniford 77-37 bringing up the rear.
Village A oozed class in their own 8-1 victory at home to Fords A – Ste Rawlinson opened the match with a 78-28 frame leaving Mark King to finish the match off with a 77-41 frame.
RAOB beat WCC A 7-2 – Stu Cosgrove 73-31 and Frank Pennington 65-46 made sure of the victory.
Stadium A beat Widnes Cons A 5-4 – Paul Rigby 72-32 and Eddie Corby 51-28 in a match which saw Paul Goulden snap his cue over his knee after being taught a lesson from Starman Ste Andrews 101-35.
Fords B beat Runcorn Cons B 5-4 – A.Riccio 69-59 and M.Carew 74-18 putting half their names in lights !
Division Two
Birchfield C whitewashed Village B 9-0 – John Jones 65-27 and Roy Randles 68-13 among the shining stars for Birchfield.
Widnes Rec beat WCC C 7-2 in a close set of frames which saw Paul Antrobus 85-28 as the only big winner.
Stadium B equalled that scoreline by beating Simms Cross B 7-2 – Danny Naughton 78-38 and a superb frame from Matty Clarke 92-14.
Farnworth B also won 7-2 away to Widnes Cons C – Final frame winners John Tollitt 52-38 and Norman Beesley 75-46 ensured the victory.
Millbrow A beat St Josephs B 6-3 – Ashley Birch 58-26 and Rico Locke 71-40 taking the plaudits.
Millbrow B matched that by beating St Basils 6-3 – Write up rivals Danny Magee 54-44 and Danny Wooley 73-50 the stars of the show.
Corporation A also won 6-3 – Andy Freeman 70-44 their big winner on the night.
Division Three
Corporation B slayed Farnworth Knights 8-1 – A.Rowlands 66-53 and Old Timer Tony Rawlinson 70-29 in a one sided match.
Prescot Reform B also had an 8-1 win at Stadium D – Openers Jim Furbank 74-21 and Ste Evans 65-21 proving too much for the Stobart side.
Prescot Reform A also 8-1 winners – Dave Nulty 79-11, Colin McCarthy 106-25 and Ged Jones 86-20 ensured the handicap points.
Widnes Cons B were 6-3 winners against RWMC – Tommy Galloway 95-23 and Ged Connor 62-10 including a 32 break. (Andy Relph made a superb 48 division leading break in his 94-9 winning frame for the ‘Warmy’)
Farnworth C continue to shine after beating Oddfellows 6-3 away – Clive Rimmer 74-15 and a superb 67-47 frame from man of the match Geoff Davies earning the points.
WBC shocked Village C after beating them 6-3 – Roy Syze 75-31 and Tony Purcell 77-24 with big wins (Tex Moran is still poised like a coiled spring – watch this space)
WCC B earned a 5-4 win at home to Stadium C – A close match with Joe Parry 50-40 being the difference last on.
Week Six
Snooker Team Knockout (Prelims)
This weeks prelims saw shocks galore and some extremely close matches, none closer than the Hough Green Social Club ‘Derby’ as the ‘B’ team beat the ‘A’ team by a solitary point – Tony Johnson 58-46 and Terry ‘Limpy’ Cartwright 71-36 helped to make the breathing space they needed.
Widnes Bowling Club cruised past Widnes Rec by their initial start – Old Heads Roy ‘Try this on for’ Syze 59-38 and Tony Purcell ‘Whites’ 55-26 cleaned up.
Former title holders Oddfellows swept past tricky opposition in Runcorn Cons B, the third division outfit had impressive wins from Dave ‘Saint’ Christopher 64-29 and Les ‘Alanos’ Banks 63-25.
Defending shield champions WCC B scraped past USC thanks to final duo Geoff Soul 49-49 and Alan Mercer 54-43.
Widnes Cons B are also in the hat for the next round thanks to usual big hitters Tony Grant 75-25 and Ged Connor 59-24 who took the plaudits.
Third division new boys Corporation B accounted for first division title chasers St Bedes – The match turned when Dave Hanley won 61-41 in the fifth frame.
Birchfield C not only beat Village A on the table but also nearly out drank them at the bar! – Wayne Gleavey 70-59 and Paul Hilton 54-45 impressed for the underdogs whilst Ste Millington had a 53 break and Mark King a 51 break respectively.
Corporation A ousted Village B team with consummate ease – Mike Harrison 94-23 and skipper Rob Morris 81-53 ensured the win.
St Josephs B surprised Fords A and held on by 35 points – Scrabbleman Eddie Szczotok 56-48 and Travel Scrabble Karl Szczotok 56-34 outshone their opponents (Jimmy Jenkins had the best break of the week with a superb 61).
WCC A won an all first division clash against Runcorn Cons A by 24 – League stalwarts Rob Taylor 75-46 and Dave Loseby 76-54 whilst young pup Jack Webb chipped in with a 50.
Another Penketh side in the hat for the next round were St Josephs A – they edged out Farnworth A thanks to Brian Timmis 62-30 and Nathan Roberts 70-36.
The biggest surprise of the round came at Eagle Sports as Farnworth C were victorious – Poppa ‘The Sailorman’ Williams 50-45 against a club cue ensured they held on to their handicap despite a barrage of impressive wins from Eagle including a 51 break for Jimmy ‘Nudge, Nudge, Wink, Wink’ Murray in vain.
Millbrow A had no trouble with Stadium A – Norman Locke jnr 75-27 and Ashley Birch 73-31 got them off to a flyer.
Birchfield A cruised past Farnworth B – Geoff Illidge 51-40 and A. ‘man with no name’ Canwell 58-38.
Stobart Stadium C got off to a flyer despite being late on parade – Mark Ogburn 57-33 and T.Goulden 53-40. Highlight for the Basils was when Dennis Simcock beat 'Mr Expletive' Dave ‘F******’ Jones 64-40.
Billiards
The WBC juggernaught rolls on as they gained another 6-1 win – Willie Barnwell 100-40 and Ian ‘How’ Lowe ‘Can You Go’ 100-63 Fords got back to winning ways 5-2 – Impressive wins for Old Stagers John Childes 100-35 and Ken Pearsall 100-62.
Simms Cross A won 4-3 – Eric Baker 100-45 and Frank Fitzharris 100-78.

Billiards
Widnes Cons A gained a surprise 6-1 win thanks to steady frames from Tony Grant 100-86 and Peter Kenny 100-86.
Widnes Cons B also had a resounding result winning 4-3 – John Carter and Dave Whittle getting them off to a flying start. (Richard Whittle had a league best break of 43 for the USC A).
Simms Cross A also 4-3 winners – Kenny Boscoe 100-54 and Eric Baker 100-15 including a tied best 43 break were both impressive.
WBC are still the team to beat after a hard fought 4.5-2.5 victory – Middlemen Peter Myler 100-62 and Matty Jackson 100-69 ensuring the win.
First Division
WCC routed new boys Fords B 8-1 – John Dale’s 66-19 frame win and Jack Webb’s 45 break being the pick of the bunch.
Stadium A matched that scoreline with big wins from Baz Yates 77-24 and Eddie Corby 73-25.
Simms Cross A impressed against scratch side Village A 6-3 – Anchormen Jason Kilshaw 79-36 and Mick Batty 77-37 (Ste Rawlinson had a 45 break for the Village).
St Bedes remain hot on the heels of the leaders after overcoming Eagle Sports 6-3 – John Mercer 79-29 and Brian Kennedy 71-40 on form.
Overton edged past RAOB 5-4 – Tony Penney 79-27 and John Hughes 106-11, but the best frame came from Geoff Brassington and Andrew Pennington – Geoff battled to win on the pink 65-49 after a 36 break from Andrew.
Farnworth A accounted for high flying Fords A 5-4 – Chris Smart back to his imperious best romping home 106-21.
Defending champs St Josephs A also ground out a 5-4 win – Anchormen Nathan Roberts 95-46 and Ian Lisle 58-49 doing the business.
The Conservative ‘Derby’ went the way of Runcorn Cons A as they overcame Widnes Cons A 5-4 – Barry Watkins 51-32 and Chris Ellams 64-41 gaining surprise wins.

USC won the basement battle against Widnes Rec 7-2 – Neil Whelan 71-43 and Paul Tudor 71-30.

Widnes Cons C continue to lead the way after another 7-2 win – Col Grindley 61-44 and John Rowan 54-47 once again the stars of the show.
Corporation A also won 7-2 thanks to Jason Sharp 73-11 and Mike Harrison 76-31.
WCC C continue to over perform as they pinched a 5-4 away win – Powerful closing duo Tony McDonnell 71-43 and Leon Hosking 97-23.

Runcorn War Memorial Club continue to struggle but managed to edge out a 5-4 win – Dave Morton 61-44 and Andy Relph 82-12 showing a welcome return to form.
Old Hands WCC B beat youngsters Corporation B 5-4 – Dave Coran 67-60 and Geoff Soul 56-23.
Widnes Cons B sit joint top after crushing Widnes Cons D 9-0 – Tommy Worrall 76-30 and Leo Milne 67-37 the pick of the pack.
Village C had their best performance of the year thumping Farnworth D 8-1 – Ste Brindley 63-28, Shaun Parry 63-16 and corner pocket legend Ste Allen 66-42 bring home the bacon.
Farnworth C are keeping Cons B company at the top after an easy 7-2 home win – Jamie ‘The Lion’ King 60-16 and Clive ‘The Tin Man’ Rimmer 66-26.
Birchfield A impressed at home winning 7-2 – A. ‘Ringer’ Camwell 77-17 and Ian ‘Non Ringer’ Sharples 76-27 doing the damage.
Stadium C earned a splendid victory against Prescot reform A 5-4 – Mark Ogburn 79-50 including a 29 break and Dave Jones 80-26 including his highest break ever of 7 after potting the last ball.
