Week Five - w/c 26/09/11

Billiards
Widnes Cons A continue to top the table after another 7-0 victory, this time over WCC – sensational frames from Mark Smith 130-28 and Tony Grant 130-46 which included a 46 break.
Second place side Simms Cross A continue their good form after a 5-2 away win at Fords – Kenny Boscoe 130-23 and Stu Cosgrove 130-60 starred in a match which saw Peter Corns knock a 45 break in vain.
Widnes Cons B also won 5-2 against Farnworth B – Leo Milne 130-91 and Eddie Herald 130-98 to keep them in contention.
WBC had a superb 5-2 away to USC – Ian Lowe 130-63 and Matty Jackson 130-61 on top form for the Bowler.
Simms Cross B beat Farnworth A 4-3 – mainly due to good wins for Brian Adamson 130-34 and Aiden Morris 130-111 (Colin Humphries had a superb 59 break for Farnworth).

Snooker

Division One
Fords A oozed class in their 9-0 whitewash of USC A – Pat Horne 100-6 and Peter Corns 79-38 amongst the winners.
Woolton Cons threw down a challenge as they thumped St Bedes 8-1 – Darren Rogers 100-15 and Andy Molyneux 81-12 both on fire.
St Josephs A also won 8-1 at home to RAOB – Dave Timmis 73-32 and Neil Roberts 106-15 with a league best 85 break.
Farnworth A beat Village Galacticos 7-2 – John Chamberlain 68-50 and Dave Boswell 70-28.
Overton MH were 5-4 winners away to HGSC B – Geoff Brassington 102-27 and Ste Spencer 86-19 with strong wins.
Widnes Cons Untouchables finally got moving as they beat WCC A 5-4 – final pairing of Ste Andrews 68-34 and Andy Grice 74-31 earning the points.

Division Two
Farnworth B sent Runcorn Con Artists packing with a 7-2 victory – Norman Beesley 71-36 and John Tollitt 74-33 the star men.
WCC C also won 7-2 against HRBL B – Leon Hosking 91-12 and Paul Coughlin 64-51.
USC B beat HGSC A 6-3 – Opening duo Andy Cotterill 59-45 and John Twist 75-53 in a match which seen four black ball frames.
Simms Cross B were 6-3 winners at home to Runcorn Cons A – Barry Hurley 80-23 and Ste Rowe 73-23 taking the plaudits.
Birchfield B beat Stobart Stadium B 6-3 – John Jones 75-26 and Ant Clarke 81-46 with good wins.
Village Wildebeests were 5-4 winners over Millbrow B – Alex Millington 64-40 and Adam Thompson 77-45 against strong opposition.
Fords B narrowly beat St Bedes B 5-4 – Chris Roscoe 103-9 and Jimmy Dunn 72-33 sharing man of the match.

Division Three
Village C kick-started their season with an 8-1 victory over Holy Family – Father / Son combo Paul O’Keefe 56-42 and Dave O’Keefe 60-40 getting them off to a flyer.
Prescot Reform B hammered Farnworth Donkeys 7-2 – Jim Furbank 59-19 and Ian Furbank 62-31 helping them to an easy victory.
Birchfield A thumped Prescot Reform A 7-2 – Geoff ‘the aggressor’ Cookson 73-33 and Paul ‘slightly annoyed’ Smith 72-29 were exceptional.
WCC B beat Farnworth Knights 7-2 – Dave Coram 58-16 and Geoff Soul 51-45 being the difference last on.
WBC had a 5-4 victory over RWMC – Roy Syze 62-27 and Ste Leadbetter 54-48 doing just enough.
Stobart Stadium C were also 5-4 winners this time over Widnes Cons B – Kyle O’Neil 63-24 including a 22 break and John Murphy 65-50.

 

Week Four - w/c 19/09/11

Billiards
Simms Cross A whitewashed USC A 7-0 this week with excellent frames from Lee Thomas 130-66, Stu Cosgrove 130-87 and a welcome return to the Widnes League for Alan Rimmer 130-103.
Unbeaten Widnes Cons A sit top of the pile after another good 6-1 win over Farnworth A – Tommy Worrall 130-49 and Paul Summerfield 130-78 starting the ball rolling.
WBC had a great first win 6-1 over Simms Cross B – Peter Myler 130-126 and a superb 130-92 win from John Twist making the difference.
Widnes Cons B beat Fords 5-2 – John Carter 130-99 and Leo Milne 130-120 getting them off to a flyer.
Farnworth B were 5-2 winners away to the Village – Superstar Hughie Farrell 130-77 and Peter Johnson 130-75 the difference between the teams.

Snooker
Division One
Fords A whitewashed last year’s champions Widnes Cons Unspeakables 9-0 – Pat Horne 82-50 and a solid 78-40 frame from Jimmy Jenkins included a 49 break.
Overton continue to demolish all who stand in their way by whitewashing St Josephs A 9-0 – John Hughes 84-40 including a 73 break, Ste Spencer 85-34 including a 49 break and Eddie Lott 109-14 including a 68 break easing their way at the top of the league.
Simms Cross A were 7-2 winners at home to Millbrow A – Superb frames from Shaun Cosgrove 120-0 and Jason Kilshaw 84-28.
St Bedes A started their winning streak by beating RAOB 7-2 – John Hartshorn 93-20, Aidy O’Connor 76-8 and Phil ‘The Power’ Henderson 66-41.
HGSC B were 6-3 victors over USC A – Openers Terry Cartwright 63-50 and Duncan Watt 82-34 with strong wins (Paul Tudor had a 48 break in vain for the Services).
Village Galacticos had a 5-4 win at home to WCC A – Ste Rawlinson 77-38 including a 33 clearance and John Mercer 89-18 including two breaks of 30 ( Kev McCann scored a 31 break in his first ever league game).
Stobart Stadium A beat Woolton Cons 5-4 – Anthony Leather 55-45 and Eddie Corby 56-31.

Division Two
Farnworth B whitewashed Runcorn Cons A 9-0 – John Tollitt 90-14, Paul Worth 81-72 and Hughie Farrell 81-32 on top form.
USC B enjoyed a 7-2 away win at St Josephs B – Paul Antrobus 60-39 including a 40 break and John Twist 94-45 including breaks of 24 and 22 being the difference.
WCC C beat Village B 7-2 – Tony McDonnell 59-50 first on and Leon Hosking 100-20 which included a 25 clearance.
Fords B also 7-2 winners at home to HRBL B – Paul Riccio 66-42 including a 27 break and Mick Carew 101-2 including a 33 break doing the most damage.
St Bedes B were 6-3 winners away to HGSC A – Wayne Hewitt 71-40 and John Price 59-37 both with strong wins.
Simms Cross B beat Stobart Stadium B 6-3 – Paul Bradburne 64-42 and Ste Rowe 76-34 making sure last on.
Birchfield B won 5-4 against Millbrow B – Paul Hilton 71-46 and Paul Condron 59-47 with the important winning frames.

Division Three
Prescot Reform A beat Corporation 7-2 – Strong frames from Ged Jones 76-25 and Carl Minshall 100-16 including a leagues highest break of 47 proved too much for the Corpy.
Farnworth C continue their good form after beating Holy Family 6-3 – Mick McKay 70-41 and Clive Rimmer 77-44 in a good all round team performance.
Birchfield A put last week’s blip behind them and beat WBC 6-3 – Fast Eddie Dickson 70-39 and Slow Ian Sharples 56-11 both in good form.
Widnes Cons B remain the team to beat as they were 6-3 winners over RWMC – Bernie Edwards 72-27 and Leo Milne 73-19 (breaks of 29 for Mark Housley and 35 for Andy Relph).
Prescot Reform B were 5-4 winners over Stobart Stadium C – Jim Furbank 71-21 and Jet setting haggis lover Stu Foy 67-31.
Farnworth Knights keep up their good start to the season after beating Village C 5-4 – Mercurial Chuckle Brothers Martin Sheehy 77-28 including a 21 break and Tommy Sheehy 49-39 with a final black to win the match.

 

Week Three - w/c 12/09/11

Billiards
Fords continue their excellent start to the season with a 6-1 annihilation of the Village – Tommy Barton 130-41 and Peter Corns 130-101 including a 29 break proving too strong on the night.
USC showed some form as they beat Simms Cross B 6-1 – Richard Whittle 130-75 including breaks of 32,33 and an unfinished 35 and Peter Whittle 130-116 with a tremendous pot red in the middle bag to compile his 8 break.
Widnes Cons A also 6-1 winners at home to WBC – Mark Smith 130-101 getting them started and Peter Kenny 130-93 rounding things off.
WCC were 6-1 winners away to Farnworth B – Jack Webb 130-104 and Andy Knight 130-117.
Widnes Cons B chalked up a 4-3 win over Simms Cross A – Leo Milne 130-112 followed by John Carter 130-72.

Snooker
Division One
Overton MH are definitely the in form side as they continue to dominate with another 8-1 victory against RAOB – Ste Spencer 95-19 including a 43 break and a superb 124-8 frame from Geoff Brassington which included the league’s highest break of 78.
Woolton Cons were also 8-1 winners away to Millbrow A – Final pairing of Barry Lane 77-19 and Dennis Simcock 95-14 gave the ‘Brow’ no chance.
Farnworth A beat Simms Cross A 7-2 – John ‘Skippy’ Chamberlain 57-35 and John Davenport 74-20 impressive for the Peelhouse Lane outfit.
HGSC B won 6-3 at home to Widnes Cons Untouchables – Tony Johnson 67-34 claiming the man of the match award.
St Josephs A also 6-3 winners over USC A – Openers Dave Timmis 76-31 and Ian Lisle 44-40 including a 25 break shone in a tight match.
 Stobart Stadium A beat St Bedes A 6-3 – Baz Yates 60-42 and Peter Rigby 82-40.
In the biggest tie of the week Fords A beat Village Galacticos 6-3 – Pat Horne started the ball rolling 70-40 and was ably assisted by Chris Whitfield 84-28.

Division Two
Birchfield B are looking in good shape as they beat WCC C 8-1 – John Jones 67-48 and Bob Randles 69-42 enough to take the victory.
Millbrow B were 7-2 winners away to Simms Cross B – Danny Wooley started it with a 74-23 win and Danny Magee ended it with his 82-40 frame.
HGSC A went away to HRBL B and came back with a 7-2 win – Ged O’Brien 72-31 and Alan Dunn 68-56 in a good close match.
Runcorn Con Artists had their own 7-2 win over USC B – Ste Newall 88-36 and Neil Austin 94-27 getting them off to the best possible start.
St Josephs B beat St Bedes B 6-3 – Lee Goulden 64-25 and Mike Whittaker 78-26.
Village Wildebeests held on for a 5-4 home win over Fords B – Alex Millington 55-51 and Adam Thompson 61-38 .
Stobart Stadium B were 5-4 winners against Runcorn Cons A – Danny Naughton 83-12 taking all the plaudits.

Division Three
Title favourites Widnes Cons B put in another strong performance against Birchfield A and were 8-1 winners – Tommy Worrall 91-48 and Jimmy Gallagher 77-38 were both in top form.
Farnworth C played their first match of the season against ‘Old Foes’ Farnworth Knights in the ‘Donkey Derby’ and came out 7-2 winners – Tommy Galloway 70-44 and a superb frame from Jamie King 93-26 including a 23 break claiming bragging rights.
Holy Family beat Stobart Stadium C 7-2 – Brian Cook 69-32 and Ray Stapleton 69-28 in a strong team performance.
Corporation were 6-3 winners against HRBL A – Tony Rawlinson 54-47 and Brian Mercer 70-51 sharing the spoils.
RWMC narrowly beat Prescot Reform B 5-4 – John Taylor 80-34 and Mike Crisp 56-39 including a 30 break being the difference.
WBC beat Prescot Reform A 5-4 – John Twigg 56-50 and Tony Purcell 84-32 stealing the win in the final two frames.

 

Week Two - w/c 05/09/11

Billiards
Fords A kicked off the billiards season in style as they thumped WCC 6-1 – Peter Corns 130-79 and Johnny Ball 130-91 making it look easy (Jack Webb had a 38 break in vain for the Cricket Club).
Farnworth A eased past reigning champions Farnworth B 5-2 in their ‘derby’ match – Chris Chapman 130-108 and Bob Williams 130-81 claiming the bragging rights.
Simms Cross A had a strong 5-2 victory away to Village – Stu Cosgrove 130-94 and Mick Anderson 130-91 with good wins (John Mercer had breaks of 45 and 35 in his losing frame).
Widnes Cons A also had a 5-2 win over Simms Cross B – Tommy Worral 130-111 and Mark Smith 130-81 both in good form.
Widnes Cons B took out last season’s second best USC 4-3 – Joe Carter 130-105 and Dave Thomas 130-81 in a match which seen Richie Whittle knock in the seasons leading break of 57.

Division One
Overton jointly lead the way after an 8-1 pounding of St Bedes A – Usual suspects Geoff Brassington 88-22 and Widnes Masters champion Chris Achilles 94-15 including a 44 break proving too much for the Bedes.
Village Galacticos also won 8-1 against HGSC B – Man of the match Ste Rawlinson 117-16 including a superb 56 break helped along by Callum Malloy 91-8 including breaks of 27 and a 25 clearance.
RAOB share top spot after a 7-2 away win over USC A – Opener Ray Dutton 59-38 and last man standing Frank Pennington 73-25.
Stobart Stadium A beat Millbrow A 7-2 – Eddie Corby 88-29 and Brian Hough 66-25.
WCC A were 6-3 winners away to Simms Cross A – Ken Kennaugh 68-52 and John Dale 67-25.
St Josephs A claim back to back wins after beating Widnes Cons Untouchables 6-3 – Billy Smith 73-43 and Brian Timmis 63-37 with strong frames.
Farnworth A had a 5-4 away win at Woolton Cons – Dave Boswell 75-38 and Chris Smart 82-13 in a close match.

Division Two
HGSC A showed that form isn’t only on paper after an 8-1 hammering of Village B – Alan Dunn 81-37 including a 37 break and a Captains innings of 67-24 from Stu Ireland.
Millbrow B claim top spot after beating Runcorn Cons A 7-2 – Terry Bourke 65-26 including a break of 34 and a superb frame from Danny Wooley 110-4.
St Bedes B also 7-2 winners this time over Runcorn Con Artists – Opening duo of Kev Johnson 74-28 and Wayne Hewitt 82-38 getting them off to a flyer (Pete Cumpper had a 40 break for the Runcorn side).
Fords B were 7-2 victors over Birchfield B – Ernie Griffiths 60-36 and Paul Dunn 70-25 with classy frames.
Farnworth B won 6-3 against Stobart Stadium B – Norman Beesley 85-27 and John Tollitt 75-38 enough to see them through (even though Hughie didn’t get a mention).
WCC C beat Simms Cross B 6-3 – Paul Coughlin 62-43 and Tony (not Alan) McDonnell 65-37.

Division Three
RWMC bounced back after last week’s drubbing and produced a great 8-1 victory over Holy family – Phil Knox 76-38 and Andy Relph 106-14 including a 33 break resuming normal service.
Birchfield A continue to shine after a 7-2 win over Prescot Reform B – Superstar Geoff Illidge 64-57 and Super Ted Paul Smith 55-44 in a good sporting match.
Prescot Reform A remembered to turn up at home (to the dismay of HRBL) as they beat them 7-2 – Carl Minshall 60-20 and Ste Barlow 52-32 pulling back some points.
Farnworth Knights beat Stobart Stadium C 6-3 – Bionic Paul Hoey 78-8 and Isotonic Tom Sheehy 76-40 including a 30 break.

 

Week One - w/c 31/08/11

Division One
Millbrow A begin their season with a superb 7-2 victory over St Bedes A – Opening duo of Ashley Birch 55-39 and Rico Locke 59-44 getting them off to a flyer and helping them claim top spot after week one !
Farnworth A were 6-3 winners at home to Stobart Stadium A – Dave Boswell 67-51 and a great 83-47 frame from John Davenport.
RAOB got themselves off to a flyer after taking down last years champions Widnes Cons A 6-3 – Mark Dutton 81-24 including a 38 break and Syd Payne 90-13 putting the tie to bed.
Fords A showed their intentions this season with a 6-3 home win over Simms Cross A – Pat Horne 89-21 and a fantastic 109-12 frame including a 55 clearance from Jimmy Jenkins.
Woolton Cons started as they mean to go on with a 6-3 victory over WCC A – Dave Rogers 84-42 and Jason Sharp 79-32 enough to claim the win.
St Josephs A shot down the Village Galacticos 6-3 – Dave Timmis 66-28 with breaks of 21 and 18 and Brian Timmis 52-47 amongst their winners.
Overton MH had a 5-4 home win against USC A – John Hughes 73-34 and Eddie Lott 85-31.

Division Two
Village B kicked off the season with a 7-2 home win over St Josephs B – An excellent 100-18 frame including breaks of 42, 30 and a 22 clearance from Alex Millington followed by a strong 69-25 frame from Adam Thompson sealing the destiny of the ‘Joes’.
USC B had a good 6-3 win over Farnworth B – Opener John Twist 78-35 and Alan Fox 79-34 enough to see them over the finish line.
Birchfield B also had a 6-3 home win over HGSC A – Paul Hilton 80-49 and Wayne Gleavey 74-24.
Runcorn Con Artists had their own 6-3 away to HRBL B – Jay Cumpper 63-49 and Mark Shingler 67-28 helping them take the h/cap by 5 points.
Simms Cross B beat Fords B 6-3 – thanks to Jimmy Evans 61-49 and Ste Rowe 88-48 including a 29 break.
Millbrow B beat Stobart Stadium B 6-3 – Scott Price 60-42 and a great knock of 86-9 from Danny Wooley.
WCC C were 6-3 victors over Runcorn Cons A – Leon Hosking 80-32 and Alan McDonnell 86-15 including a 31 break.

Division Three
Widnes Cons B head the table after being awarded a 9-0 walkover due to Prescot Reform A not turning up.
WBC had a massive 7-2 win over Prescot Reform B – Mark Hughes 70-31 and James Brown 65-33 being their stand out players.
Birchfield A also 7-2 winners away to new boys Holy Family - Paul Smith 47-44 and Ian Sharples 52-51 providing the Captains Knock.
Farnworth Knights also 7-2 winners over RWMC – Openers Ste Brennan 48-35 and Karl Davenport 73-22 along with a great 44-39 win for Paul Hoey.
HRBL took all six frames to beat WCC B 6-3 – Billy Connolly 64-22 and Phil Hodgkins 66-28 taking the plaudits.
Corporation beat Village C 6-3 – Rob Morris 93-38 including a 46 break and Kenny Cunningham 70-39.
