Aidan retained his title and did it the hard way by accounting for star of the future Alex Millington 2-1 after losing the first frame. Then he despatched pre-tournament favourite Danny Woolley 2-1 in the semi final and both players chipped in with excellent 33 breaks. Then the big test came against Village Galactico Callum Malloy in the final after he'd accounted for Millbrow'A starlets Norman Locke Jr 2-0 in the prelim and Ashley Hughes 2-0 in the quarter final then beating best friend and team mate Matty Jackson 2-0 in the semi final all with minimal fuss.
The final proved to be the match of the day as Aidan knocked in a 30 break in the opener only to pinch it on the black after Callum made a critical miscalculation on the final blue. Callum showed his metal by having the competition's best break of 38 in the second frame and cruised home. The decider was once again a one sided affair as Aidan rode his luck and potted them off the lampshades to reclaim his title.
Referees at hand were Bill Housley (League Treasurer), Andrew Housley (League Secretary) and Paul O'Keeffe (League Committeeman).
Both players now look forward to the annual prize presentation evening where they'll be presented with their respective awards.
Highest Break : Callum Malloy (Village) 38
